New Program in DH & AI launched by Arts & Sciences
Welcome to the Program in Digital Humanities & AI, the University of Virginia's new academic home for digital, computational, and AI-based approaches to humanistic inquiry. Launched in fall 2026 by the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, the program supports an established Graduate Certificate serving over 50 students across 13 graduate programs, alongside an academic community who engage with AI as both a research method and an object of study.

DH in the Disciplines
Students in UVA's Graduate DH Certificate Program enhance their departmental studies with digital and computational approaches, while retaining a core emphasis on humanistic interpretation and scholarship. The curriculum is flexible and sits lightly alongside departmental requirements, strengthening students’ research capacities and expanding their career opportunities. Applications from any enrolled graduate student in any school at UVA are accepted between September 1 and October 1.
